Can locational disparity of prosumer energy optimization due to inverter rules be limited?

To mitigate issues related to the growth of variable smart loads and distributed generation, distribution system operators (DSO) now make it binding for prosumers with inverters operate under pre-set rules. In particular, maximum active reactive power set points are based on local voltage measurements ensure that inverter output does not cause violations. However, such actions, as observed in this work, restrict range available energy management, more adverse losses arbitrage profits located farther away from substation. The goal paper is three-fold: (a) develop an optimal optimization algorithm activation load flexibility inverter-interfaced solar PV storage time-varying electricity prices; (b) quantify locational impact prosumer gains due injection rules prevalent different markets; (c) propose a computationally efficient hybrid control policy which provides regulation while substantially reducing disparity. Using numerical simulations three identical at parts radial feeder, we show our able minimize disparity between customers beginning end feeder 1.4%, curtailment reduced by 91.7% compared base case restrictive volt-Var volt-watt policy.
